Identifying Marks and Signatures

Packing Your Print For Submission
Please package your prints carefully and sturdily to prevent any damage from bending or breaking during shipping.

What Judges Look For
The evaluation of any art form is a subjective process. However, the judges will base their decisions on accepted qualities of photographic excellence, including creativity, impact, storytelling, technical superiority, lighting, composition, print quality, and artistic flair. All decisions made by the judges and the IPA are final.

Categories
You may enter your work in any of the categories offered by the IPA competition. Choose the most appropriate category for your print. The IPA judges will not switch your entry into a different category for you. You may enter several photographs in several different categories, provided that you include the appropriate entry fees for each work. You may also submit a single photograph in two or more separate categories.

Return of Prints
Do not submit original slides or negatives. Requests to have prints returned are not encouraged, however, if your submission must be returned, make sure to include an aptly-sized self-addressed mailer and appropriate shipping fees with your submission. A $25 handling fee must also be included. Every effort within reason will be made to return your photographs. IPA will not be responsible for any damaged or lost submissions. Entries received without a return mailer, adequate postage and handling fees will not be returned. All entries not returned will be destroyed six month after the competition deadline.

Use of Prints By the IPA
All entrants agree that any photograph they submit to the photo competition may be used by the IPA for marketing and promotional purposes directly related to the IPA contest. This use may include publication in any IPA publications, printed materials, or electronic media, such as but not limited to the IPA web site, catalog, annual books and gallery shows. Use may also include publication in an IPA media sponsor publication.

Any photograph used by the IPA shall carry a credit line of the photographer. The IPA retains the right of use for a period of eighteen months from date of submission by entrant. Copyright and all other rights remain that of the photographer.
